About St. Clare

About St. Clare-Newport

The mission of St. Clare has remained unchanged since the Daughters of the Holy Spirit arrived in Newport in September 1909 and began their ministry of caring for the sick and elderly in their homes.

Today St. Clare-Newport continues to offer the highest quality care to our elders. Our senior care community offers a continuum of services from adult day health and assisted living to special care units with memory care, short term rehabilitation, and skilled nursing services along with a variety of stimulating recreational activities to fulfill the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of our elders. Our programs are developed to reflect the interests of individual residents and meet their physical, mental, social and emotional needs. Activities include daily fitness and exercise, library hour with the Newport Public Library and recreational programs such as musical entertainment, outings and special activities.

We offer delicious meals prepared from scratch by our own in-house chefs. In addition, we provide laundry and housekeeping services, medical services, and dietary and rehabilitative consultations and treatments. We are a founding member of CareLink, a member of Leading AgeRI, and an agency of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence. A not-for-profit organization, St. Clare-Newport values diversity and welcomes people of all faiths. We encourage social interaction, personal growth, a sense of well-being, and community involvement and self-determination. Something for everyone, just like home.
